Obituary For Alexander Michael Roberts

Alex was born in San Jose, CA, on January 11, 1992. He is survived by his loving Mom, Janet, his Pop, Luther Roberts, (he has joined his precious Grandma Anna in God?s care), Uncle Ronnie Roberts, Aunt and Godmother Tami Garcia, Uncle Robert Garcia, special Cousins - Danny, Kyle, Austin, and Gabrielle, and, his Godfather Ron Cass. He leaves an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and Fremont Adult School staff, who contributed so much to his life. He valued his faithful families at Corpus Christi Church, Bridges Church, and Victory Outreach Church, who enhanced his faith and love of God and guided him in his amazing journey. Alex attended Fremont schools - Niles Elementary, Centerville Jr. High, and Washington High School. He was presently enrolled at Chabot College. Alex was dedicated to ?Adventure Time? where he served as a staff member. He loved working with the staff and students, where he shared his talents and his spirit. We were fortunate to be part of Alex?s life. His compassion, willingness to help, and his love for others were exemplary - a great part of him! Alexander will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all those who were touched by his generous heart. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Corpus Christi Church, 37968 2nd St. in Niles, Fremont. Mom, Janet, thanks you for being part of Alex?s life and invites you to a reception at Corpus Christi Church Hall, following holy mass. Those who wish to make contributions, please send to Corpus Christi Church, Niles, Fremont.

I am so sad that Alex had to leave us so soon. He was an extremely charming, caring, and kind young man. I was Alex's camp counselor at YSC for a couple summers and I remember him always being a role model. He was always hardworking, a strong leader, and extremely helpful. If there was anything he could do to make our jobs easier, including leading other kids by example, he did it in a heartbeat. He was always positive and always smiling. Thinking about him now makes me smile too. You will be missed Alex. Roberts family, you are in my prayers.

I was one of Alex's camp counselors at YSC for more summers than I can remember. I never saw a kid play harder at sports, have more fun, or work so hard He was a joy to have at YSC and he was always great at getting me to laugh. He was a great kid and will be missed greatly. Janet and family, I am soooo sorry to hear about Alex. As I often told him, if you hadn't gotten him first, I would have taken him and adopted him myself. He is one of the boys that have come into my life that I will always be grateful to have know! As I told him on his first day at Hanna, "I am going to be your mom while you are", and I felt honored to have that position with him. He brought a smile to my face each and every day that I saw him! He was such a gentle, kind hearted, wonderful young man. I longed for the day when he would come back to visit. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all your family! Alex, Alex, Alex you were truly one of a kind. You were so well loved by the everyone at Niles, especially the kids at AT . No one will ever be able to replace you. You are truly special. I will never forget your big smile. Anthony will never forget but miss how you played football with him. We now always talk about how you knocked the stall door open in the bathroom like a linebacker in football, when he was locked inside. All because you didn?t want him to crawl on the floor. 😉 You were just so sweet and will truly be missed. Rest in peace. It is with a sad heart that I say goodbye to a beautiful young man. He always said hello and smiled at me when I came to the youth mass, without my own son. I loved watching him fall asleep as soon as mass started when he was an alter boy. What a loss. I am so very very sorry! May God take him and hold him in his arms until you can be there with him again.

I have known Alex since he was little kid on my brother's soccer teams--The Race Cars and The Geckos. I was also one of his counselors with Youth Service Corps, and I got to know him pretty well. He was nice, funny, hard-working, and a joy to be around. He even won an award for his hard work and leadership. Youth Service Corps is like a family, and it feels like I lost a little brother. I also found out he was a counselor for my youngest brother's youth group, which made me proud to know that he was a leader himself. He had such a bright future ahead of him. The loss of Alex is devastating. The only solace is knowing that Alex is in a better place now. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
