Obituary For Angie Leon Vega

Angie Leon Vega was given her angel wings after her battle with breast cancer after passing peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 17th surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 1, 1928 in Watts, CA to Ventura and Santos Leon. Survived by her brothers: Jesse Leon of Union City, CA and Andrew Leon of Pueblo, CO; her children: Leticia Vega, Joe Vega, Virginia Vega, all of Fremont, CA, Caroline Vega Soto, and Paul A. Soto, both of Roseville, CA; her grandchildren: Yolanda and Scott Freshour of Sacramento, CA, Steven Calibo of Roseville, CA, Raquel Vega of Sacramento, CA, Lorenza Rivas of Fremont, CA, Vincent Vega of Union City, CA, Vanessa Bucklin of Castro Valley, CA, Joseph Bonete of Fremont, CA, Gabriel Vega of Union City, CA, Alexander Bonete of Fremont, CA; her sisters-in-law: Alice Leon of Oakland, CA, Jennie Leon of Modesto, CA, and Polly Gonzales of Fremont, CA; and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by close family friend Chris Gaddie. Predeceased by her husband Joe (Sammy) F. Vega, her daughter Cynthia Vega, her parents Ventura and Santos Leon, and her brothers Johnny, Manuel (Mike), Joe, and Edward (Eddie).

A special thank you to Dr. David Lee and his oncology team of Palo Alto Medical Foundation of Fremont, CA and Palo Alto, CA. Also to the Sutter Hospice team.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 21, from 2-5pm with a Vigil at 3:30pm at Frmeont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 22, 10am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 37588 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Angie to the Breast Cancer Society.
