Obituary For Anita G. Valdez

Anita G Valdez of Union City, Ca, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 5th, 2025. Anita was born on June 9th, 1934 in the Decoto District of Union City. She attended Decoto Elementary School, and graduated from Washington High School in Fremont California in 1954. She worked 38 years for United Can Company in Hayward California, and retired at the age of 62 in 1996.

Anita loved her Spanish heritage and made three trips to Spain. She enjoyed preparing traditional Spanish dishes especially during the holidays, which always included a variety of our favorite cookies. During her retirement she lovingly embraced her two grandchildren and their weekend sports activities. She was a member of the Our Lady of The Rosary Church, Ladies Guild, volunteered for the annual OLR church festival, and a six year volunteer with Union City Little League.

Anita is survived by her two sons Lynn Valdez, Lyle Valdez, grandson Estefen Valdez, granddaughter Isabelle Valdez Duarte, and great-granddaughter Amirah Jamali; her nieces and nephews, as well as her dear cousins.

Anita is preceded in death by her father Eulogio (Floyd) Garcia and her mother Justa P. Garcia as well as her sisters Isabelle Souza and Diane Garcia.
