Obituary For Barbara J. Mendoes

Barbara J. Mendoes, age 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Kaiser Hospital in Fremont, CA. Born December 10, 1942, in historical Niles to Angelina (Stefanoni) and Arthur Fereira, Barbara was the oldest of four children.

She was an alumnus of the first graduating class at James Logan High School in 1960.

Barbara married Donald M. Mendoes on August 17, 1974, and deeply cherished their loving 44 years of marriage.

She worked as a secretary for the Captain at the Alameda County Sheriffs Department for 25 years. There she gained the added title of “Mom,” because of the way she cared for all her co-workers and anyone else that met her. She truly was the glue that kept everyone and everything intact.

Barbara was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grammy, and Sister. She truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures of chatting with friends and family, breakfasts and lunches with her past co-workers, and reading and keeping up with her nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and her furry four-legged daughter, Bella.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; sister’s, Kathleen Solari and Linda Hawkins, brother; Joseph (Sally) Fereira, daughter; Kathleen (Anthony) Lombardi, son’s; Clifton (Paula) Simms, Michael (Deanna) Mendoes, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Vigil Service will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018, 3PM, at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, November 12, 2018, 11AM at Corpus Christi Church, 37891 2nd St, Niles.

The Mendoes Family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all the doctors and staff members at Kaiser Hospital in Fremont who cared for Barbara during the last few weeks of her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Lung Association would be much appreciated.
