Obituary For Bartolome Alvarez Lopez

Bartolome “Bart” Lopez, of Newark, passed away peacefully at his home on March 3, 2015. He was surrounded by those that loved him dearly.

Bart, 75 years old, was born in Mission, Texas one of nine siblings. Bart was preceded in death by his father Adolfo Lopez.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Donna; five children: Wendell, Bill, Olivia, Gloria (husband Kirk Vaughan), Anthony Sr.; grandchildren: Adrian Lopez, Jesse Lopez, Anthony Lopez Jr.; and great granddaughter Autumn Lopez.

Bart is also survived by his mother Maria Lopez; eight siblings: Teresa, Taurino (wife Connie), Maria Louisa, Jacobo, Adrian, Jesus, Silveira, Pedro; nephew Adolfo Lopez; niece Maria Ruiz (husband Juan); great nephew Jorge Ruiz; great nieces: Maggie Ruiz, Sade Lopez; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Bart worked in construction for many years and worked thirty-five years at the Southlake Mobile Home Park as the maintenance manager. He was considered a jack of all trades and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. During his later years this primarily consisted of him lifting his hand to wave and smile at an old friend or to make a new friend of anyone walking by his home.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, from 1-5pm with a Vigil at 3pm at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 9, 10:30am at St. Edward's Catholic Church, 5788 Thornton Ave., Newark, CA 94560. Burial will follow at Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, CA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Bart to the Kaiser Hospital Hospice Program, 30116 Eigenbrodt Way. Union City, CA 94587.

    Bart went camping with my dad, Louie Brown. And the car was broke into, they took sleeping bags and other stuff. But Bart only complained about them stealing his peanuts, the rest of the stuff didn't matter.
