Obituaries

Bernice was born in Ritzville, Washington and grew up in Washington State. She married and started her family there. She and her husband of 54 years, William Francis, moved to Fremont in 1959, raised their family and retired in Fremont. She worked for Fremont Unified School District at Walters Jr. High as a yard duty supervisor for 5 years and was a loving homemaker and caregiver for her family. She passed away at the age of 90, a widow for 8 1/2 years. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and all who knew her.

She is survived by 3 children: Carol Garrigus of Fremont, Christie Carlo of Fremont, and Scott Francis of Manteca; 9 grandchildren: Christopher Garrigus of Mineola, TX, Stephanie Garrigus of San Francisco, Jonathan Garrigus of Lewisville, TX, Timothy Garrigus of Fremont, Angela Carlo of Oakland, Felicia Bunton of Fresno, Katrina Carlo of Fremont, Bryan Francis of Modesto, and Nicholas Francis of Manteca; and 8 great-grandchildren: Kylie, Kolton, Michael, Matthew, Christian, Justin, Alyssa, and Vincent.

Bernice's life will be celebrated during a memorial service on Monday, February 13, 11:30am at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. A private burial will be held at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine.
