Burdick ?Burt? Ophaug entered into rest on July 12, 2012 in Santa Clara, CA at the age of 86. Burdick Edsel Ophaug was born January 23, 1926 in McVille, ND to Einar and Ruth Ophaug. After his tour of duty with the U.S. Army in France and Germany, Burt moved his family to California in 1953 to attend the City College of San Francisco. He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1957 they all relocated to Santa Clara. Shortly after, he started work with Lockheed Missiles and Aerospace, where he would retire 33 years later.

After retirement he took up golf and traveling all over the world. When he was home, Burt could very often be found in his living room watching his favorite sports teams on TV or on Tuesday afternoon it was off to the movies theater and usually took in two for the price of one. Burt was the husband of Emelia; father of Susan (Michael) Sauvageau, Debra (James) Platt, Steven (Laurie) Ophaug, and Vicki (Michael) Kwiatkowski; grandfather of Danielle, Michele, Taylor, Branden, Jordan, Austin, Michael Dillon; and great-grandfather of Cassidy and Shelby; dear brother of Leland Ophaug of McVille, and Lorene Sprandel of Los Gatos, CA. He was predeceased by first wife Lois E. Stenson; sister Marietta James; and brother Ross Ophaug. Services will be held on October 6, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Kloten, ND. Interment will be in Our Savior Lutheran Church Cemetery. Please join the family in celebrating Burt?s life and stay for refreshments after the service.
