Carl Richard Shaner entered into rest on March 29, at the age of 76. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marilyn Shaner. His nephews; Tyler Shaner of San Francisco, Keith Shaner of Oakdale, CT, and Todd Nicholson of San Diego. His caring sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Gary Poisson of Sabastopol. Also, many nieces and nephews. Carl is predeceased by his daughter, Kimberly Shaner, who passed away in 2003.

Carl was born on July 30, 1937 in Toledo, OR. He received his MA and BA from Humbolt State University in business and education and graduated with cum laude honors. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran who served on the U.S.S. Tulare and also served in the National Guard as a heavy equipment operator. He was an active member, usher and served on church council at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Carl was also a member of SIRS and volunteered at New Horizons School.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 3:30pm at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1301 Mowry Ave., Fremont, CA 94536. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Christ the King Lutheran Church.
