Obituary For Cody Jon O'Connell

Cody Jon O’Connell passed away unexpectedly at his home after an arduous battle with addiction. He was just two days shy of his 25th birthday.

Cody was born October 6, 1994 to parents Terry and Sandy O’Connell. He loved sports from an early age and played just about all of them throughout his life, his favorite being soccer. Cody loved school and was heavily involved in activities such as Leadership, Link Crew, Science Camp Counselor, Spirit Week and he was on the Homecoming Court his senior year.

Following in his sister Kelsey’s footsteps, he attended UCSB and graduated with a double major in Black Studies and Sociology. His larger than life personality and kind spirit captivated everyone who met him, making his circle of friends incredibly large.

Those who knew Cody, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. His passion for life and having fun was contagious. He was charming, hilarious, witty, intelligent, loyal, polite, and kind. His family and friends meant everything to him and his love for them was profound.

Cody will be missed every day by his father Terry & partner Lori, his sister Kelsey & brother in-law Aleks, nephew Luka, Cody’s partner Jessica, his grandmother Jackie, aunts Kelly, Terri, Joni and Sissy, uncles Mike O, Pat, Mike B and Minh, cousins Rachel, Matt, Krista, Andy, Randy, Amanda, Tyler and Haley, and many, many great friends.

We are heartbroken but trust that Cody is now safely in the loving embrace of his mom Sandy, grandparents Glenda & Clifford, and grandfather Ed.

Rest in peace Cody. Cody was an special guy. Every single time he saw me, he had a big smile. He always made it a point to say hello and aling with it a hug. Last time I saw him he did just that.

I have so many wonderful memories of Cody, Some of my favorite’s is when Cody and his partner in crime lol Taylor, would come visit they were only 4 or 5, I thought how special that they wanted to hang out with me:heart: But there’s one that stands out in my mind more then all the others, I had just gotten home, when Cody was passing by on his bicycle, he was about 10 or so at the time, with big eyes and the most beautiful smile he jumped off his bike and threw it down and ran into my arms with the best hug eve! I love you always sweet Cody
