I met your family on a carnival cruise during Thanksgiving, 1988 and spent the following summer at your home, which was being built. I didn’t know your father well, but my memory of that entire summer remains one I’ll never forget. Natalie, Candi, and I spent so much time running up the stairs and back and forth while your dad was working in his office. He never yelled at us for being so rambunctious (maybe once), but I’d like to think he rather enjoyed all our chatter and Shenanigans. He must have been an amazing man to put up with us! So sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies to your family. Love, Kelley (Andruss) Hix Olympia, WA

I worked for Dan in the early 90s. As a young engineer he gave me chance to learn the profession and begin a long career in geotechnical engineeering. Dan was always full of life and lived it the fullest Dan O'Connell PE GE

Dan sat me down one night and we talked about the true meaning of family. We discussed just about every subject you could imagine. But what really stuck was how nothing really seemed to matter if u didnt have family. Toss out all the clutter of fighting and such. All that doesnt matter. Your family is not always about bloodlines. Its who you choose to be in your life. He was such a great man. He will be greatly missed and forever in the hearts off all who knew him. My heart goes out to his loving family

I have such fond memories of spending time with Dan and his family over the past 60 years. It's hard to believe that he is now gone from this earth but a blessing to know that he is resting in Heaven for eternity. My prayer is that his family will remember all the good times and those thoughts will help to sustain them through their loss.
