Obituary For Darlene Ward
Darlene Ward, born February 8th, 1936 in Arkansas and passed away April 8th, 2019 in Fremont California at age 83.
Similar to many other individuals from Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas during the Great Depression, she traveled to California with her whole family in search of greater work opportunities. She was the daughter of Lewis “Boss” Colvard and Dela Mae Colvard (Mama D), and represented the last of 8 siblings. Darlene's loved ones will remember her by the many stories she would tell, the catch phrases she used, her draw to always have a good time, her enjoyment of Reno trips and family reunions, her singing, her poems, and the positive energy and laughs she brought to others.
She is survived by many including her 5 children, 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Darlene will continue to be known to many of them as "Grandma Goosey."
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday April 13th at Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. And a celebration of life to follow for family and friends in Newark, California.

Aunt Darlene had a beautiful smile and was always singing. When my dad died when I was 9 years old she wrote a letter to my brother and I to comfort us that I will never forget. I will cherish the memories I have of her:heart:

Our condolences to all the family. Darlene was a fun lady and I enjoyed many fun times with her over the years. Seeing An Elivis impersonator with her and all the girls and drinking champagne in the Limo that Kenny got us..... was just one of the fun things we did! You are one of my favorite Aunts, I will miss you so much, Our fun family time that was one of my favorite`s was when we all got together in Reno. Your happy with all your siblings now in Heaven, see you on the other side, Give a big hug to our son Gordy and Mom and Dad, love you.

Well, Aunt Darlene your up in heaven with my Mom, Lois Colvard Dad, Ray Colvard and all of your side kicks. You all are having such good old times up in heaven rocking and a rolling like the old days. You will be missed everyday. Love you always and forever.
