Obituary For David Anthony Mezzetta

David Anthony Mezzetta passed away on Tuesday after a brave fight with cancer. He was loved by so many people from all over.

Dave was born in San Jose, CA to parents Eduardo Mezzetta and Ellen DalPoggetto-Mezzetta and graduated from Camden High School, going on to earn a degree from San Jose State. Dave was a self employed tax preparer, where he found many life-long friends (and his wonderful wife!) among clients and colleagues. A lover of sports and the San Francisco Giants, he was a longtime bowler and member of the 19th Holers Golf Club. Dave was fortunate enough to travel the world, but his favorite places were Clearlake, Reno and Vegas. Some would call him an avid gambler, but anyone who knew Dave would just call him a winner.

Dave is survived by his loving wife Kathy and their sons Matt and Eddie. He is also survived by his sister Aldine Grisenti (Charles) of San Jose and Elaine Davis (Tom) of Campbell and was The Godfather to Paula Walkup (Ben). Dave leaves behind a large, loving, extended family as well.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 20, 9am at the Old Mission San Jose Church, 43300 Mission Blvd., Fremont, CA 94539. Private burial at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery in Santa Clara, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Dave to the American Cancer Society, 1710 Webster St., Ste A, Oakland, CA 94612 or online at: https://donate.cancer.org/index

Today December 10 2019 I became aware of my cousin's death in 2014. I live in Italy since 1984 and am not always current with what is happening with the many Mezzettas of the Bay Area. David is in my prayers.

I've know David for over 30 years. Although I did not see him much, when I did see him, it was like we were old lost friends. He was such a special person and will be surely missed. He did my taxes, but we had a more special relationship than doing my taxes. I still cannot believe he is gone. His spirit will live on. We both battled cancer which made our bond even closer. I pray for his family through these very tough times. My God bless the family and David's soul. Love Stanley Eubanks.

I just found out that Dave passed away. I wish I had known. I know that we were only his clients, but that once a year, it really felt like so much more. Dave was such an honorable man and was such a wonderful spirit. He would remember so much about our lives each year and would tell us little stories about his own. My parents had gone to him to do their taxes forever and eventually we moved over to Dave too. He knew so much and helped us so much when my parents both passed away within weeks of each other. Our heart breaks for Dave's family. I can only say that we are so sorry for your loss and as this holiday season comes, we hope for some peace for you all. Love, John and Laura Morrison
