Obituary For David Kealohalani Makaipo
Entered into rest on July 13, 2012 in Tracy at the age of 85. Devoted father to Sharon, Carol, Rhonda, Evita, Karin, Jack, Larry, Rick, and Roger. Grandfather of 9, great-grandfather of 5, and great-great grandfather of 2. Cherished brother of Beatrice Lealani. Joined his beloved wife of 51 years Betty Makaipo.
Born October 19, 1926 in Hilo, HI, David served in the U.S. Army from March 12, 1945 - February 6, 1956. He was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant E-6 with: Asiatic Pac-Theater Camp Ribbon, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Ribbon, Army Occ Medal (Germany), and World War II Victory Medal. David retired from Greyline Tours after 30 years in Oahu, HI. He loved fishing, camping, hunting, picnicking, golf, and especially family. He was unique at making up lyrics to sing about someone's name, a place or incident and once he made the song up, he never forgot it. He had a beautiful voice. He would always relate a song with someones name. May you rest in peace Dad, Grampa, Great-Grampa, Great-Great Grampa, Uncle, Brother and Friend to all, knowing how well you are loved.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 19, from 9-11am followed by a chapel service at 11am at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Burial will follow at Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, CA.
