Debbie was a cherished wife, devoted mother, and loving Nana who made a lasting impact on everyone she met through her many passions and kindness. Born on May 26, 1956, in Philadelphia, PA, to Elsie and Charles Lahner. In 1985, Debbie’s journey led her to Fremont, where she found her soulmate, Doug. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters, Katherine and Sarah. Debbie dedicated many years of her life to Prudential Insurance before bringing her talents to Sysco Food Services, where she earned Customer Service Rep of The Year, Account Manager of The Year, and played a key role in mentoring many colleagues. She retired in 2020, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, dedication, and love.

Debbie made a profound impact on her community through her tireless dedication and generous spirit. She began as a Team Mom for various soccer teams in Fremont and Newark, and her commitment to education continued with many years of service on the PTA at several schools within the Fremont Unified School District. Her involvement extended to the Booster Club at John F. Kennedy High School, where she supported countless events and initiatives. Additionally, Debbie devoted over 35 years to serving on various ministries at her beloved church, Christ the King. Her unwavering support and involvement touched many lives and left a lasting legacy of community and faith.

Her greatest joy and accomplishment were her two beloved daughters, Katherine Gutierrez and Sarah Ward, as well as her four wonderful grandchildren: Robert and Eloise Rodarte, and Axel and Ayla Gutierrez. She leaves behind a deeply loving family and a wide circle of friends who cherished her greatly.

Debbie is preceded in death by her father, Charles Lahner. She is survived by her devoted husband, Doug Ward; her mother, Elsie Lahner; her brother, Ken Lahner; her daughters, Katherine Gutierrez and Sarah Ward; and her four cherished grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 19th, 2 PM at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1301 Mowry Avenue in Fremont.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church, in memory of Debbie Ward.
