Obituary For Delores Jean Keegan

A gracious Christian, Jean was a member of the Church of Christ in Madera, Newark, and Pollock Pines throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed working with the youth programs and later serving as an Elder’s wife.

She was an adoring wife of 51 years married to John William Keegan, who passed away February 28, 2012. A loving mother, Jean is survived by her 4 children: Tammie Jeannine Glorioso, Jacqueline Carlene Bond, John Joseph Keegan, and David Michael Keegan, as well as her sister Patsy Garrison. Her joyful spirit lives on through her 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Jean had a passion for child care and took care of many children while raising her own family. She had a loving, generous heart and her door was open to anyone in need of support. She loved to cook and there was usually something enticing on the counter when guests came to visit. Her love of cooking extended to canning and she was sure to share her jams, jellies, and fruits with everyone. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and quilting and showered friends and family with her handmade gifts. Later in life, Jean discovered a passion for swimming and became dedicated to daily workouts with her self-proclaimed “swim gals”.

A Memorial Service will be held for Jean on Saturday, October 8, 11:00am - 2:00pm at the Church of Christ, 22307 Montgomery Street, Hayward, CA 94541. Lunch will be served.

Our family met the Keegan's in 1985! My 3 kids all called Jean "Grandma Jean". Our 2 younger kids are the same age as Tammie's kids. For many years Jean and I Both did daycare in our homes. We lived and attended church together in Newark for 33 years. Jean let her Christian light shine on everyone she met. She is now enjoying her eternal reward she lived to receive. I send my sympathies to the whole family. It's difficult to learn to live without our loved ones around us, but how can we mourn when Jean is with our Father?!

She was always smiling and she felt like everyone's grandma. She treated all of us kids (when we were kids) like we were all her grandkids. I can see her smile in my mind right now. I loved Jean and know she is in a better place. My condolences to her family. My prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

Grandma Jean was such a loving and caring person. Some of my favorite memories as a child are at Jeans house. I loved her like she was my own family, and she did the same to me. The world has lost a truly loving heart. I will forever love her for how she accepted me into her house and family.
