Obituary For Derrick Ben McCullough, Jr.
With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sergeant First Class Derrick Ben McCullough Jr. (E-7), who left us far too soon on July 17, 2025. Born in San Jose, California and raised in Fremont, California, Derrick lived a life marked by loyalty, dedication, and love. Derrick had a loving relationship with his predeceased Grandfather Ben C. McCullough, and followed in his grandfather’s footsteps and joined the military.
Derrick proudly served in the United States Army National Guard, 15-years, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7) through unwavering commitment, discipline, and leadership.
Derrick thrived in the Automotive & Repair Industry, managing auto body shops where his love for anything with wheels, especially those that went “braaaap” shined through. Derrick also enjoyed motorcycle riding, sports, country music, horseback riding, snowboarding, rollerblading, and camping.
Derrick graduated from Mission San Jose High School in Fremont, California where he played football and was on the varsity wrestling team.
He was a devoted Husband, Father, Son, Brother, and Friend. Derrick leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, and is survived by his wife, Amelia McCullough; his children, Zayden Norton McCullough, Harlow Garcia McCullough, Mila McCullough; and stepdaughter Arianna Gomez. He also leaves behind his loving parents, Derrick McCullough Sr and Rochelle McCullough; Grandparent, Aldean McCullough; siblings, Darryl (Cheryl) McCullough, Donna (Babatunde) Adedipe; a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, as well as extended family and countless friends who were fortunate enough to know his big heart, quick wit and humor.
The family thanks you for all the cards, calls, texts, prayers, flowers, and meals etc. Derrick Jr would want us to say thank you all for loving him.
