Obituary For Donald Anthony George

Donald Anthony George of Dublin, entered into rest on December 17, at the age of 48. He was a devoted father to Vincent and Amber George and their mother Nora Becerra. Dearest son of Donald F. George and his wife Olivia and Phyllis George and her longtime partner Stan Patterson. Caring brother to Sharon and Paul Seymon and Stephen George. Loving uncle to Abigail Seymon and other nieces and a nephew. Donald was also very loved by brother Jaime Campos, sister Monica Uchytil and best friend Jason Riechers.

He was born on December 30, 1963 in Castro Valley. Donald was employed with the Fremont Police Department for 19 years and most currently was a detective. Prior to the city of Fremont, he was employed with the Alameda County Sheriff's Department. Donald loved farming on his father's ranch. He was an avid fan of the Oakland A's and Oakland Raiders. He was a home brew master and a sprint car enthusiast.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 26 from 4-8pm, with a Vigil Service at 7pm at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, 94536. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 2601 San Ramon Blvd., San Ramon, 94583 on Thursday, December 27 at 11am. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Donald's surviving children. Donald George Trust Fund, Fremont Police Association, P.O. box 1727 Fremont, CA 94538.

Fremont police Det. Donald George, whose 20-year anniversary with the department would have been in February, died Monday. He was 48. The cause of death was not released.

George began his career with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office in 1987 and then joined the Fremont Police Department in 1993, Fremont police said.

While working for Alameda County, he worked at North County and Santa Rita jails, worked as a bailiff, and was assigned to the coroner's bureau, where he helped with recovery efforts at the Cypress Freeway structure in the aftermath of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.

During his 19 years with Fremont police, he had numerous positions including patrol officer, detective, arson and explosives investigator, driving instructor and had been the department's semi-permanent burglary detective since 2005.

George also worked closely with the Fremont Fire Department's Arson Investigation Team.
