Obituary For Dorothy Evelyn Phippen

Dorothy Evelyn Phippen of Fremont, CA passed away peacefully on January 20, 2019. She was a life-time Fremont resident. Dorothy was born in Ripon, CA as the youngest of three daughters. Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother Emma and father Joseph Bettencourt, her brother Junior, and her sisters Grace Squarzino and Lorraine Rodrigues. She is survived by her nephew Ronald Rodrigues of Newark.

Dorothy graduated from Washington High School in 1941 and was an active member of her class reunion committee for many years. She graduated from Merritt School of Business and started her 34-year career with Bank of America, working her way up to bank loan officer. After retirement, Dorothy applied her career skills and dedication to help execute social activities for the Alameda County BankAmerica Retiree Club.

Dorothy’s faith was an integral part of her entire life and was a devout member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, attending Mass regularly.

Dorothy was loved by her many friends and relatives who brought joy to her life, as she did to theirs. Her caring, kindness, laughter and warm personality endeared her to all who knew her, and she will live forever in our hearts and memories.

The Memorial Mass will be held for Dorothy on January 30 at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 37588 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA.

In lieu of flowers, Dorothy preferred that donations may be made to Sister John Marie’s Pantry, P.O. Box 3276, Fremont, CA 94539.
