Obituary For Ernesto Vera

Ernesto Vera, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by family members in his Fremont home on Jan. 24th 2023 at the age of 90. He was born in Guanajuato, Mexico on Oct. 4th 1932, to his parents Felipe and Soledad Vera. He was the fourth of 8 siblings. He was ordained a priest in 1957 and remained a priest until 1968. He requested dismissal from his priesthood duties in1968. In 1969 he married and moved to California where he raised a family. It was here that he had four children and later on eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

His greatest achievement by far was being a grandfather. His grandchildren affectionately called him ‘Papa’ the nickname given by his eldest granddaughter. He was fond of teaching the kids how to play chess, and he was always telling infinite stories of his life. He would always joke around and drive his grandkids to school, walking them up to their classroom. He was an avid reader. He was also a jokester, he would always find a way to make anyone laugh even if the timing of it was terrible this included when his wife was saying Grace and he would pick at his plate.

Ernesto is survived by his wife, Rosalinda Vera, their four children, Ernesto (Neto) Vera, Silvestre (Chive) Vera, Maria Dolores (Marilola) Vera-Valdez, and Mónica Rivero; his 11 grandchildren, Lauren Vera, Natalie Vera-Hurst, Joshua Vera, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Velia Vera, Rosalinda Vera, Itzel Valdez, Santiago Valdez, Cairo Rivero, Yasmín Rivero, and Caleb Rivero; his 3 great-grandchildren, Isabella Hurst, Nolan Hurst, and Jaxson Alo. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Felipe and Soledad Vera, his brother Carlos Vera and his sister, María de Jesús Gallardo.

The family would like to thank the outpouring of support from family and friends. As well as the support of Angel’s Hospice.

Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; and it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. Elder John Harris 🙏🏽💯❤️✝️
