Obituary For Everett Dee Spidell

Spidell, Everett Dee, Captain U. S. Army (Ret.), passed away on June 26, 2014. He was 65 years old. Dee, as most of his friends and family knew him, was born in Corpus Christy, Texas on April 8, 1949. As the eldest son of a military family he lived all over the world, but finished high school at Highland High in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1968. Dee attended college at the University of Guam and received several advanced degrees to enhance his career as a teacher and counselor.

His father, Everett D. Spidell, preceded him in death by just a few months. He is survived by: his loving wife, Shao Mei of Menlo Park CA; his son, Sean Spidell of Seattle, WA; his mother, Rhoda E. Spidell of Albuquerque NM. Dee was blessed with a loving family: his sisters in-law and brothers-in-law include Cathy Tang and Tony Wang and Ronnie Tang and Aiguo Pan; his brother Gary Spidell and wife Kathe as well as his two sisters and their husbands Rhonda and John Whitley and Terri and Randy Pearson. His nieces and nephews include: Joe Pan, Christina Pan, Le Lin, John Wang, Betsy Quicksall, Jake and Jenny Quicksall and their daughter Abby.

Dee was a “Renaissance Man” of sorts. He was an inspiring history teacher and counselor on Guam for 42 years, a civil engineer in the Army Reserve helping in Asia, a world traveler and a loving husband and father. Dee served his country, his community and his family throughout his life.

On Sunday, July 6th at 2:00 pm a memorial service will be held at the Menlo Park VA Memorial Chapel at the following address: Willow Rd., Building 332, Menlo Park, CA (the Chapel is across from the Welcome Center).
