Born August 3, 1933 in Hana, Maui HI. Ace was a proud Marine, served in the Korean War. He was a big jokester and loved making everyone laugh. He was an active member of the Ruggieri Senior Center in Union City & Clark W. Redeker Senior Center in Newark. He volunteered his time teaching ukulele classes at both centers. He enjoyed sharing his love for Hawaiian music and spent hours putting together the music for his classes. He was honored in Newark several times for Volunteer of the Year and recently informed he will be receiving the same honor for Union City for 2019. He was very ecstatic when he heard the news and looked forward to receiving his award. His children will accept his award on his behalf at the City Council Chambers at City Hall in Union City.
He was blessed with athletic ability that excelled in all sports he played which earned him the nickname “Ace.” He enjoyed being a member of the NCHAA (Northern California Hawaiian Athletic Association) for many years. He started his own teams in the softball and basketball leagues. He coached and played catcher. After every game, all teams would gather together for a potluck win or lose. He also coached Union City Little League. He has always had a servant’s heart and loved going on Mexico Mission trips with our church youth group as an adult leader. He helped the construction crew, puppet team or wherever he was needed. He had a green thumb and could make anything grow. He would spend hours gardening especially taking care of his plants, flowers and fruit trees. He had a vast knowledge of everything and he loved to help you figure something out or just share his life experiences with you. He loved watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports or do other activities. He was very proud of his family.
Attire for his memorial Aloha, SF 49ers, SF Giants, Golden State Warriors or Marine Corp
