Felix Aguirre Vargas was born on July 2, 1946 in Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico. He was raised by his kind and loving grandmother. Felix was an extremely intelligent man who taught himself English and several skilled professions, despite only having formal education up to the third grade. He was a remarkable tailor who worked in a tailor shop for several years before becoming a barber and then a machinist. His skill and dedication as a machinist led him to a job at the prestigious Stanford University, where he worked hard for over thirty-five years before retiring. He also owned and operated his own machinist shop during this time. Felix married his wife Olga Vargas on May 15, 1965. They welcomed their only child on November 6, 1966, a son named Jaime. Felix became a United States citizen soon afterwards.

Soccer was one of his lifelong passions. Felix played semi-pro ball and coached adult soccer for over thirty years. His other passion was travel, and he enjoyed exploring the world with his wife and son. His most cherished memory was fulfilling his childhood dream of seeing the Coliseum in Rome. Felix loved collecting the local currency from all of the places he visited, and had an extensive collection from around the world that he loved sharing with his granddaughter. Felix will be remembered with love for his passions, his skill on the barbecue, his changitos, and his sweet tooth. Above all, he will be remembered for his generosity and love for his family and friends.

Felix was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease later in his life and bravely underwent brain surgery in 2018. After fighting the disease for many years, he was recently hospitalized for an infection that he was unable to overcome. He passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026 with his family. Felix is survived by his family, including his wife Olga Vargas, son Jaime (Carolyn) Vargas, granddaughter Gabrielle Vargas, sister Bella Vargas, brother Raul Vargas, and many other loving family members throughout Mexico and the United States. Following his wishes, there will be no service.
