Obituary For Frances Joan Espinola

Frances was a life-long resident of the East Bay, the last 42 years in Fremont, passed away on Sunday, September 19th after a short battle with lung cancer. Her son John and adored granddaughter Marissa were by her side.

Fran was born in Oakland and was a 1957 graduate of Oakland's Castlemont HS. In 1969 she met her future husband John "Big John" Espinola and they soon moved to Newark and were married. In 1970 they had their only son, John and moved to what would be their long time home in Glenmoor. Fran worked in retail and was a long time Emporium-Capwell?s employee.

Fran loved her extended family, neighbors and friends, especially those who would sit and enjoy a good white Zin with an ice cube or two. You knew you held a special place in Fran's heart if she dished out some of that quick stinging wit she was famous for.

Preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Lucille Long and by her loving husband Big John Espinola and her aunt and lifelong best friend Laura Wood. She is survived by her brother John Long, son John, daughter-in-law Shannon and her pride and joy, grandchildren Marissa and Ian. "Franny" as she was called by those who knew her best will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Frances's name can be made to livestrong.org

A celebration of Frances's life will be held on Saturday, September 22, 1pm at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536.

John and Family With all my heart I wish I could have been with you yesterday, but... I was there in spirit. You all have been in my thoughts and prayers each day. I cannot tell you how heavy my heart is...she was more like a Sister than my cousin. My Love to all, Susan
