Frank Freitas of Fremont, CA passed away on May 29, 2023. Frank was 76 years old and the fourth generation of Freitas’ to reside in Alameda County. Frank is remembered by many as a lifelong academic, an entrepreneur, a real estate investor with uncanny timing, and what he was proud of most… his simple ways. Frank entirely lived life on his own terms until his last breath.

Frank, a class of 1965 graduate of Washington High School graduated from San Jose State University in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He also minored in world languages, such as Latin, Greek, and Spanish. Frank worked with disabled adults for one year after graduation and then returned to the family business, Fremont Paving, as an employee and then later a family partner. He worked at Fremont Paving for 32 years and was a member of Operating Engineers, Local 3. Parallel to Frank’s career with Fremont Paving, he and his wife Linda carefully invested in real estate creating a multi-generational legacy.

Frank particularly enjoyed historical literature, mathematics, & philosophy. He additionally participated in bicycling, sailing, and scuba diving.

Frank is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda, daughter, Jennifer Bernstein, son-in-law Joel Bernstein, son, Douglas Freitas and fiancé, Teresa Lundberg. Frank leaves behind seven grandchildren; Brianna and Brandon Bernstein and Gordon, Marshall, George, Henry, and Elliott Freitas. Frank is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Ella Freitas, as well as brother Joseph Freitas. Frank was followed in death by his sister, Ellen Lebon.

A Memorial Service has been scheduled for family and friends on Saturday, July 15, 2023, 11:00 AM at Fremont Paving Company – Newark Yard, 38370 Cedar Blvd., Newark, CA 94560. Please join our family in celebrating Dad’s life.
