Obituary For Frank G. Garcia

Frank G. Garcia, a native of California, passed away at home at the age of 94. Raised in Guadalupe, CA alongside his four sisters and brother, he later moved to Fremont in 1959, shortly after the city’s establishment. As a master carpenter with over 70 years of service in the union, he took immense pride in building many of the early homes that grew the city. He was especially proud of his own Fremont ranch, with the house originally built in 1889 to support the local walnut farms.

In his younger years, he possessed a great love for salsa dancing. It was on the dance floor where he met the love of his life, Alice, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. He was a loving father to his six children; Andrew, Dominica, Leticia, Magdalena, Mark, and Rosanna, and a loving father-in-law to Carmen, Charles, Paul, and Scott. His legacy continues to thrive through his 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. For him, there was no greater joy than quietly taking in the laughing grandkids, hugging the newest great grand baby, and celebrating his family gathered at the Ranch to enjoy a Sunday breakfast on the outdoor patio.

His faith was the cornerstone of his life. A dedicated member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Fremont, he gave generously of his time to his faith community. He was a longtime leader with Teens Encounter Christ, spent many years active with the Knights of Columbus, and faithfully volunteered with the Perpetual Adoration ministry. Outside of his family, his church community was his true passion and calling.

Family and friends are invited to honor his life during the upcoming services. A vigil will be held on June 9 at 6:00pm at the Chapel of the Roses. A funeral mass will follow on June 10 at 10am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fremont.

Floral tributes may be sent to the Chapel of the Roses or memorial donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County.
