Obituaries

Lesmister, Gay Lynn Coit, passed into the arms of her Lord on January 30, 2023, after a valiant year-long battle with stomach cancer. She was born in San Jose, CA, on November 14, 1953, to Elmer and Alyce Coit. She met her husband, Michael, at work at ADAC in 1974. They married in 1977, and enjoyed 29 happy years until his passing in 2006. A 1972 graduate of Camden High School, she had her own housekeeping business for many years, and then worked at the San Jose Airport in Janitorial Services for 12 1/2 years until retirement.

Gay's passion was hosting large gatherings of family and friends at her home, and she was exceptional at planning theme parties for special occasions, and would have every detail planned to perfection. Another passion was her dogs. Everyone who knew her knew she loved her dogs. She had many over the years, all adored, and is survived by Norman, her beloved French Bulldog.

Gay is survived by her brother Dennis and wife Kathy, sister Joy, brother Ron and wife Shelley, nephews David and wife Misty, Ron Jr and Elvia, Ryan and wife Shannon, nieces Sarah, and Mary and her husband Jay, stepson Darren and wife Nina and daughter Farrah. She is survived also by her aunts Marjorie Pine and Marion Coit, and 1st cousins Leonard, Heidi, Sandy, Lorna, Celeste, Denise, Howard, Roxanne, Eric, and Lisa, her sister-in-law Marsha, brother-in-law David, great-nieces and great-nephews Katie, Jonny, Sean, Madison, Colby, Lewis, Irving, and Cindy. She is survived by her sisters-at-heart Deann, Merri, Judi, Christine, Risa, and Karen. Also, she was family-at-heart to the Beal family, Dave, Mari, Naomi, Elise, and Lilli, and to the DeLauter girls, Amanda, Brooklyn, Alyssa, Jessica, and Natalie. She is also survived by numerous other family and friends both here and in Canada, which is where Mike was from.

A special thank you is extended to Shelley, Christine, Cindy and Faye, who nursed and attended to Gay during the last days of her life. They were with her around the clock, and met her every need. She could not have had better care.

A Memorial Service will be held for Gay on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 1:00 PM, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 479 Blossom Hill Rd, San Jose, with a reception to follow at the church hall. Inurnment will be at Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los Gatos-Almaden Rd, San Jose, on Monday, February 27, 2023, at 1:00 PM.
