Obituary For Gerard F. Wallster

Gerard F Wallster, 78, of Fremont, California passed peacefully on Tuesday July 16th with family by his side. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 10th, 1941, he was the son of the late Everett and Dorothy Wallster.

Gerard was a man who wore many hats, literally. To friends, he was known as Gerry; To his family, he was Papa; And, to his wife, he was her King Porky. No one who met Gerry forgot his infectious passion for his favorite hobbies: golfing, gardening, music, photography, billiards, attending horse-races, and spending time with his beloved wife. His graciousness, optimism, and endless supply of jokes touched the life of everyone he came into contact with.

Gerry married the woman of his dreams on December 6, 1963. They had 56 wonderful years together filled with unconditional love that only continued to grow as the years went on. His legacy lives on through his wife, two daughters, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Gerry will be fondly remembered as a family man, retired pressman, humorist and proud peacetime veteran of the US Navy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

His wife is Mildred V Wallster. He has two daughters, Karen Aranda and Dorothy Reuling. He has 6 grandchildren, Brittany Farley, Regan Reuling, Natalia Aranda, Bianca Aranda, Dylan Aranda, and Derek Aranda. And, he has one great-grandchild, Armando Rubio.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Gerry and I shared Grandchildren and he was such a wonderful Grandfather. I once read the success of a man is measured by the kind of husband and father he is. Gerry was all about family. He loved Millie with his whole heart. He always smiled and enjoyed his golf, family and a good joke. Gerry’s girls were the light of his life. He would come to Texas and spend every minute with Brittany and Regan going everywhere they wanted to show him. They just wanted to be with Papa. Karen and Dodie were blessed by a completely unselfish father who always would put them first. He will be missed by so many, but his family have so many memories and such love, it will help them get through the days ahead. Gerry was a very successful man!

I never had the privilege to meet him. But I am good friends with his daughter Karen. And judging by how highly she always spoke of him, I had said I wanted to meet him one day. I never got that chance. But judging from how much love he had for his family, and they for him, he must have been a very incredible husband, father, and grandfather!!
