Obituary For Hani Ghaith
On July 28, 2024, Hani Ghaith, loving husband, father, grandfather, and sports fanatic, passed away at the age of 57.
Born in San Francisco in 1967, his family moved to Fremont when he was in elementary school, and he eventually graduated from Washington High School. In school he was known as a great athlete, but he was also known as the guy that could talk his way out of any situation. After high school, he helped support the family business by managing Glenmoor’s neighborhood grocery store, Fremont Market. Always extremely personable, he knew all the customers by name and made each one feel special. Although he enjoyed working at the store, he always said the best thing that ever came of working there was meeting his future wife, DeAndra.
Hani and DeAndra married in 1993 and had two boys, Ryan and Zach and decided to live in Fremont to be close to family. Anyone who knew Hani understood he was a natural salesman, which led to a very successful career in the liquor and wine distribution business.
Even though he loved his career, his true passion was sports. Whether it was playing basketball in high school, watching the 49ers with his boys, out on the green with friends, or betting on the Warriors – he was a true sports fanatic. He coached his sons through high school and never missed a practice or game.
It’s easy to write about the things he did in his life, but it’s harder to express the kind of man he was. Hani was generous. He was the first one to pick up the check at dinner and would give his last dollar to anyone who needed it. Hani was a great storyteller. Hani connected with people through stories, he would find out their interests and convey an experience that related directly to them.Hani was loyal. If you were in his circle, he would stop at nothing to support and protect you.
Hani is survived by his wife DeAndra, sons Ryan (Alanna) and Zach (Jessica), and his beloved granddaughter Izabella, his sisters Sara (Don) and Noele (Phil), and nephews Madden, Jackson, and Charlie. Hani was preceded in death by his father Zaki and his mother Sylvia.
There will be a gathering to honor and remember Hani in the banquet room at Billy Roy’s in Fremont on Wednesday, August 7th, from 6pm-8pm.
