I was saddened to see this news, even after all these years. I've spent some time reflecting on Hector today and the decade I spent knowing him. When I first met him, I was in production and he was in IT. He was the one who eventually convinced Andy to bring me onto his team without a pay cut, pushing me to get my certifications and grow my career. At the time, I wasn't as aware of the world and 'lived for work,' and I didn't always understand his perspective. I used to think his mischievous nature or his desire to leave the office on time meant he wasn't 'hard-working.' I see now how wrong I was. Hector was a wonderful man who was trying to show me—through his humor and his love for his wife and children—that a job is what you do, but it isn't who you are. He taught me that companies can be like a season of Survivor, and that you have to look out for yourself and your loved ones first. He gave me the tools to succeed and the wisdom to know when to turn the computer off. I'm so grateful for the lessons he taught me that I wasn't yet ready to hear back then. Rest in peace, Hector. You are missed.

It was a privilege to have known Hector, and I appreciated our relationship very much as a friend as well as a valued client. Hector was a wonderful person inside and out. I won't forget his thoughtfulness and warmth. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
