Obituary For Higinio Antonio Acevedo

Higinio Antonio “Toño” Acevedo, 90 years young, of Fremont, California entered God’s Kingdom on April 7, 2023. He was born on January 13, 1933 in El Salvador.

Toño, the most loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather is survived by his wife, Teresa “Nena” Varela Acevedo; daughters, Sandra (Francisco) Moreno and Lissette (Alberto Garcia) Robles; sons, Manfredo (Lea Nieto) Torres and Carlos Alfredo (Eva Lopez) Acevedo , grandchildren; Veronica, Carson, Ryan, Andrea (Austin Fowler), Diego, Nairu, Swamy, Nestor, Beatriz, great-grandchildren; Destiny and Sebastian and his faithful dog, Tyson.

Upon graduating high school from Instituto Nacional General Francisco Mendez, Toño worked as a sanitation inspector. He diligently worked while attending the Universidad de El Salvador where he obtained his law degree and practiced law at El Antel. Toño continued to be a lifelong learner with varied interests, from staying abreast of national and international news and legal matters around the world, to listening to CD's to his “virtual travels” around the world on YouTube, which he partook with his daughters and grandchildren. He later discovered Facebook where he recounted many amazing stories about his life that sometimes stretched the imagination, but always kept his family and friends entertained.

Toño was a man with a simple taste of slacks and button up shirts, fruits, vegetables, planting and enjoying the labors, fútbol, music, reading and simply spending time with family and friends.

His level of determination, drive and a touch of stubbornness defied the odds medical professionals had given him by nearly three years. Toño was blessed to have around the clock care provided by his loving wife, daughters, and grandchildren primarily Carson and Ryan. Each one of them had their way of helping and putting together the best care.

Toño was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family, who loves him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing leaves an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love is forever ingrained in all who knew him.
