Obituary For James Allen Caverly

James (Jim) Allen Caverly was born January 9th, 1934 in Oakland, CA and was welcomed into heaven November 2nd, 2019 at the age of 85. Preceded by his loving wife Shirley and his beautiful baby girl Lori Ann. Survived by children, Stephen Caverly, Trish Brown, Tim Caverly and Cathy Martinez. Known to them as “Pop” are his grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Paul, Kian, Courtney and Lindsey. Also, his 6 beautiful “all girls” great grandchildren. The oldest of 4, he grew up in the Bay Area with his Grandmother “Ma” and his Uncle Andy and Aunt Mary. He was drafted by the Army, and served his country in the Korean War. Upon coming back to the states, he bumped into the love of his life, Shirley Mae and married her raising 4 children.

He moved to Arizona to be with his kids and watch his grandchildren grow up. Cradle to Grave Catholic, he was proud to be involved with St. Clemens of Rome Church in Sun City, Knights of Columbus and a Eucharistic Minister. He is an Irishman through and through and will be honored with a true Irish Wake.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, November 12, 2019 with a Rosary Service at 6:30 PM, Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 13, 2019, St Edward Catholic Church, 5788 Thornton Ave, Newark. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 26320 Mission Blvd., Hayward.
