Jeffrey D. Harmon, 82, of Fremont, California, passed away on July 24, 2026 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Jeff was born in Seattle, Washington to Richard and Virginia Harmon in 1944. Jeff and his family later relocated to Menlo Park, where he graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School, and later San Jose State.

He met his wife of 59 years, Sylvia, when they were both working at Hewlett-Packard in Palo Alto. Shortly after their wedding, Jeff deployed to Vietnam, where he proudly served his country as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy’s Construction Battalion. After the war, Jeff and Sylvia moved to Fremont, where they raised their two daughters, Kristin and Ashley.

Jeff was a good friend to many, a family man, and a helping hand to those in need. He enjoyed the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and rode the Giant Dipper as often as he could, followed by a stop at Marini’s for a bag of salt water taffy. He was an avid backpacker when he was younger and set out on many trips through Yosemite and the Sierras.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, daughters Kristin (Mike) and Ashley (Raymond), grandsons Tyler, Raymond and Dominic, and granddaughter Kaitlin.

Visitation will be held at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536, on August 3, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a Vigil at 6:30 pm. A funeral mass will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 43148 Mission Blvd., Fremont, CA 94539, on August 4, 2026, at 11:00 am.
