Hello, my name is Bill Reynolds, born in 1945, and the oldest brother of my three siblings Alan, born 1950, Jeff and his fraternal twin brother, Cliff, born in 1953. The truth is I never really got to know Jeff when we were growing up in the same house from the time of his birth in November 1953 until I left home in September 1963 at age eighteen.
What I do remember about my eight year old brother Jeff concerns the weekly TV Guide. Jeff had a unique attraction to that little magazine. At that time there were seven VHF channels in Los Angeles. Jeff knew what was on each of those channels any time he was asked. We never had to look at the TV Guide when Jeff was in the living room because he was our TV Guide. Jeff helped us tune in to our favorite TV âFamiliesâ like Ozzie and Harriet Nelson in âThe Nelson Family,â Jim Anderson in âFather Knows Best,â and Ward and June Cleaver in âLeave It To Beaver.â Three times a week those thirty minute family programs were a breath of fresh air within our very strict home environment.
Another memory I have of my brother Jeff, also when he was about eight years old, concerns menâs rooms. Whenever we were taken out to dine, upon walking through the restaurantâs door, the first thing Jeff did after we were seated was to find and âtourâ the menâs room. Apparently he had a curious fascination with toilet stalls, urinals and sinks.
I left home in September 1963 during the week I turned eighteen. In December 1965, I enlisted in the Air Force, and was away for seven years. I recall hearing when Jeff turned eighteen, he had left the house too. Our brother Alan, three years older than Jeff, had also left home when he was eighteen. Jeffâs twin, Cliff, who saved almost every dollar he earned, remained living at home with our parents the longest until he was able to purchase his own home.
What I remember about Jeff after 1973, when we were both working adults out on our own, were notes I received f
