Obituary For Jesslyn Corrinne Hatala

Jesslyn Corrinne Hatala of Daly City, CA (long-time resident of Newark, CA) passed away at the age of 87 on Wednesday Dec. 23, 2015 in San Francisco. She was born in Stockton, CA on Feb. 4, 1928, and was the daughter of Horald George Deady and Annie Corrinne Deady. She grew up during the Great Depression, and she had an incredible and full life.

Jesslyn joined the USO during World War II as a singer and dancer, and she also danced with wounded soldiers. She married Herbert Hatala after WWII and raised three children, Robert, David, and Laurie. She also raised her daughter Laurie’s son William Cline as if he were her own son. Known for her strong will and for being the type of person who got things done, Jesslyn was not one to sit around and wait for answers to come to her. She believed in hard work, and had her own way of showing unconditional love. Later in her life, Jesslyn went back to school at Chabot Community College and earned an AA degree. She was a Graphic Designer for PRA Group in Hayward, CA and ETM in Newark, CA.

Jesslyn (or Jay as she preferred to be called) is survived by her grandson William Robert Cline of San Francisco who was by her side until the end. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law: David Russell Hatala and Corrine Frey Hatala of Lutz, Florida, granddaughters Tammy Corrine Hatala and Julie Hatala Capobianco and husband Dan Capobianco, and great grandson Roman Tito David Capobianco - all of Lutz, Florida.

Jesslyn was predeceased by her husband Herbert Kenneth Hatala, her son Robert Gerald Hatala and her daughter Laurie Diane Hatala(Cline).

Jay had such a zest for life - she was beautiful and smart and oh so talented. I have such fond memories of Jay with Mike the cat, and of course Holly. She was such an incredible woman - and so fortunate to have such a wonderful, caring grandson. Will, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Jo Ann

What a full and lively life Jay had. From the moment we met, she was always "going"...not letting much get in her way. I will miss my friend and am grateful that I had her in my life for so many years. You did a fantastic job staying by her side, Will. She loved you very much and was so proud to have you as her grandson!

I had the great pleasure of meeting Grandma Jay through dear Rose Vigdal...She always had a brightness in her eyes and a such a warm welcoming smile. Dear Will, you have been the most incredible grand"son" anyone would be proud to claim as their own. God bless you for being there every step of the way on her journey home. Please embrace the fact that you went above and beyond in the care of dear Grandma Jay and that she is smiling on you right now from her new, comfortable home in heaven and will always be right beside you and you continue your earthly journey.

William. I know you may not remember me as you were a small boy last I saw you. Jeep and Jay were very much a part of my life when I was very young. Your mom was too. I had many fond memories of my time with them and their home in Newark My last contact with Jay was a road trip with her and the dog and cat from Florida back to her home in Ca........ the longest trip of my life...lol I thought we would NEVER get to Ca. she had me stop every 45-60 miles to potty the animals...lol I can laugh now but.... at the time I just wanted to get her to her beloved home and me to mine. Rest in Peace Jay

We echo Julie and Maarten's sentiments. We had the pleasure of working with Jay at ETM for a number of years and remember her as happy and energetic. She always had a twinkle in her eye and smile on her face. I also ran into her often at Raley's in Newark and we always stopped and chatted for a bit. Missed seeing her there after she moved. She was a very special person and you were lucky to have her. Heartfelt condolences, Jerzy and Claudia Szpetkowski

Dear William, Like others at ETM, I was greatly saddened to hear of Jay's passing recently. Jay worked for our engineering group at ETM for a number of years and did lots of our mechanical drafting. Many of the items she designed are still in production. Jay was introduced to ETM by your mom Laurie, who worked with us as an assembler. I miss Jay's thoughtful, caring nature and her irreverent good humor ("growing old disgracefully"). With deepest sympathy, Maarten Korringa

I think my most fond memories of Jay are going over to the house on some holiday's with my family and sitting in the living room and listening to her play the organ. I could listen to her play for hours. I loved it so much. I know you will have a big party in heaven with your family. Say HI to Laurie for me. Love you Jay LeeAnna
