Obituary For Joan Cooper Carroll

Born January 21, 1922 in Sheffield, England, and entered into rest on August 1, 2014 in Fremont, California at the age of 92. Predeceased by her husbands: Glenn Mayhew, Alfred Miller, and John Carroll; longtime companion Robert Mueller; and daughter Susan Wescott. Survived by her daughters: Sandra Salmon and her husband George of Pleasanton, and Sylvia Harvey and her husband Patrick of Pleasanton; grandchildren: Gregory, Veronica, Melissa, Melanie, and Matthew; and longtime companion Ian Oxley. Also survived by 4 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.

After 30 years at Mervyn's, Joan retired. She was also an antique dealer at Bite and Browse for many years in the Niles district of Fremont. She was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church and St. Anne's Altar Guild. She arranged the flowers for the church for many years. She enjoyed reading, painting, traveling (including many trips to Maui), and the outdoors (at 92 she walked around Lake Elizabeth every day). But most of all, she loved time spent with her family and friends.

A Celebration of Joan's Life will be held on Saturday, August 16th, 2pm at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, 2791 Driscoll Rd., Fremont, CA 94539. Donations may be made in memory of Joan to St. Anne's Episcopal Church or to your favorite charity.

??Joan was such a lively, dynamic woman---even in her 80's and 90's!!! She seemed to light up a room! I think all who knew and loved her will treasure her memory and strive to try to make our own 80s and 90s (should God deem to grant us them) as active, loving, and multi-faceted as hers. God Bless her beautiful soul!
