Obituary For John "Jack" Sherwood Reynolds
John (Jack) passed away on April 8th after a week of illness. He is survived by his daughter Peggy and son-in-law Don, son John and daughter-in-law Laura, son Jim, son Jerry and daughter-in-law Linda, daughter Penny and son-in-law Steve, his grandchildren TJ, Adam, Reid, Ian; Jake and wife Francie and children Jack and Jo, Gnesa and her husband Bill and children Lilli and Liam, Danyel and her sons Deven and Daniel.
John was born in Dix, Nebraska to Harrison (Harry) and Ellen (Nellie) Flavin. In 1944, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in Iwo Jima and Okinawa, surviving the South Pacific war zone with minimal injuries. After discharge, he returned to Loveland, Colorado and met Therese (Trix) Calkum. They were married in June of 1948 and moved to California to work and raise their family.
John had a strong belief in spending time with the family, and with Trix, created what is now the Reynolds Compound; property and a cabin in trust for children, grandchildren and future generations. Besides family, his life revolved around his airplanes, his golf game and his workshop where he created many pieces of furniture that occupy the homes of his children and grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held for Jack on Friday, April 13, from 5-8pm at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536.
