I was shocked and saddened to hear of John's passing. While I was aware of his previous medical emergency and had some phone conversations during his rehab, I felt he would fully recover. I saw him at the Rock n Reno tournament back in June, he wasn't playing but looked great. I was hopeful that I would see him on the field soon. I met John maybe 15 years ago playing Senior Softball, he with his NorCal Avenue Towing team and me with my SoCal Barcelona Bandits team. Great times, games, and connections...to the extent that they invited me to play in the Asian Pacific Island Pride tournament. I've since moved to Texas but every so often would pick up the phone and call John to catch up, softball, family, even politics which is crazy given today's climate. I'll miss the conversations. While John has left us all too soon, he leaves us with the memories of a good husband, father, grandfather, friend, softball player, and so much more. RIP John. Tony Baltazar

I met John in the Police Academy in Fall '93. Everyone loved John...you couldn't help but love him. John was a few years older, so I affectionately nicknamed him 'Ol Man. We quickly hit it off and became friends and commute partners. I once made the mistake of challenging John to a foot race during PT. The 'Ol Man smoked me in front of the other cadets. We got hired by different agencies, but would meet at the gym before work most days. Then, after John transferred to BPD, I would sneak a couple miles outside city limits to meet him at 7-11 for our 3 A.M. coffee. John always had a smile...the greatest smile, and made whoever he was around feel special. I am blessed to have called John one of my best friends and to have been introduced to his incredible family. I know John is smashing the softball and tearing up the basepaths for Team Heaven. I love you brutha.

If it hadn't been for Sr Softball I wouldn't had the opportunity to met such a great person. My most sincere deepest sympathy for the Nutterfield Family at this moment. We see our friend departing sooner than us, but the way he treated everyone of us for sure He touched all of us. Everytime I remember you my friend I just want to be a better person. Jonh i hope when you be next to our Lord don't forget about all your friends you left behind buddy. May the Lord receive your soul in His Hands, and gives you the opportunity, or a chance to play in His team. Jonh Nutterfield you will not be forgotten. Jonh Nutterfield soul RIP. My prayers goes to our Lord Jusus Christ to give the strength to your entire family, and friends to get through this painful moment we are going through especially your Family
