Obituary For John Thomas Navas

John Thomas Navas was born and raised in Union City, California where he was the oldest of three children, Dale and Barbara. He met his wife, Diane, while working the summers picking apricots. They were high school sweethearts at James Logan where they graduated in 1962. They shared an intimate friendship and deep love for each other and were married at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Niles on June 26, 1965. Their first son, John, was born in 1967 and Lance in 1970, in Fremont.

John worked at the Oakland produce market since 1962. This wasn't a job to him but his passion. He enjoyed going to work every day and maintained many friendships, as well as taking great pride in his work. His co-workers were among the many people who would patiently listen as John - beaming with pride - would go on and on about his 4 grandchildren.

John enjoyed spending time with friends and family, going fishing, hunting, working on the house, and fixing anything you could throw at him.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Cecilia, and his loving wife Diane. He is survived by his sons: John and his wife Grace and Lance and his wife Mary; and grandchildren: Evan 21, Gavin 13, Jacob 6, and Sophia Rose 3. He is also survived by his brother Dale and his sister Barbara.

John will forever be remembered for his sweet smile, mild temperament, and giving spirit. He was a loving spouse, father, grandfather, and friend.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 27, 9am at the Old Mission San Jose Church, 43300 Mission Blvd., Fremont, CA 94539.
