Obituary For John V. Sanguinetti

John Valente Sanguinetti was born March 17, 1923 in San Francisco, CA to Antonio and Assunta Sanguinetti. After graduating from Galileo High School he served during World War II as a Paratrooper in the 503rd Airborne Regiment of the United States Army. He was awarded a Purple Heart fighting at the Battle of Corregidor in the Philippines. Following the War, he became a tradesman working as a commercial glazier in San Francisco. He was an avid hunter and very much enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends in his hunting club. In 1959 he met the love of his life, Patricia Gallagher, describing it as “love at first sight”. They married and eventually settled in Fremont, CA where they raised sons Mark, Matt and Jim. John worked at the Fremont Unified School District, as the sole glazier, until his retirement in 1988. During his time at the school district, he developed a close network of friends who loved to share laughs and stories. They always supported each other in any way they could. He was a hardworking and dependable man. In his sons, he instilled an appreciation for nature during their regular ongoing adventures to beaches and parks in California. He and Pat were unwavering supporters of their son’s athletics and other endeavors. Upon his retirement, John enjoyed gardening and travel with his wife and family. One of his favorite things was family gatherings of all types and particularly valued the times with his grandchildren John, Alison, Sara and Gabriella. John and Pat were inseparable and were married 61 years.

John was brother to Alfred Sanguinetti and Gloria Harlow (deceased), Father in Law to Melissa, Tammy and Sue Sanguinetti with several nieces and nephews of the Sanguinetti and Gallagher clans. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday October 30th at 2:00pm at Holy Spirit Church, 37588 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Wounded Warriors Project.
