Obituaries

Entered into rest on August 20, 2012 in Fremont at the age of 78. Beloved husband of 44 years to Maria Alcorta. Loving father to Jose and Tammy Alcorta, Maria and Kiyen Matthews, and Juan Jose Alcorta. Caring grandfather to Marco, Dianna, Emmanuel, Lyla, Jacob, Laureana, Tersa, and Zackery. Cherished brother of Oralia Dos Santos, and Antonia Hinojosa.

Born October 29, 1933 in Mexico, Jose was always a very hard-working man. He worked for Kraft Foods for 13 years, and for General Motors for 17 years. He enjoyed gardening. He was very compassionate. He loved his community and his church.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, from 5-8pm with a vigil at 7pm at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 24, 12:30pm at St. Edward's Catholic Church, 5788 Thornton Ave., Newark, CA 94560. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA.
