Obituary For Jose Maria Montemayor

Entered into rest on January 8, 2013 in Fremont, CA at the age of 80. Beloved father and step-father to Larry J. Ronquillo, Ricky D. Ronquillo, Patricia King-McElfresh, Manuel Lizarde, Robert M. Carretero, and Xavier S. Chacon. Treasured grandfather to 18 grandchildren and great-grandfather to several great-grandchildren.

Born on July 10, 1932 in San Angelo, TX to Casimiero and Lucy Lopez Montemayor. He joined the Air Force at 19 years of age during the Korean War and served his time. He moved to Oakland for a brief stint, ending up in Fremont where he spent the rest of his life. He retired from General Motors after 22 years of service before becoming disabled. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandkids. He loved building things, as he was a perfectionist. Joe will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, from 4-8pm with a Chapel Service at 6pm, all at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Burial with a Military Honors Service will be held on Friday, January 25, 1pm at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, CA.

    I can just see them now, my Father,Aunt Felice and Uncle Joe smoking their cigarettes and wondering what to cook! I'll always remember my uncle Joe with his cowboy boots, cowboy hat and his beautiful gardens. To my cousins may God bless you. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Mr. Joe Montemayor; You are now home resting in the LORD's loving arms and enjoying the beauty that now surrounds you. It was my great privilege to have gotten to meet you. Immediately, I saw what a loving, warm, and beautiful man you were. To Patty, Larry, Sonny and Rick, I send you my deepest sympathies to each one of you. With much love and respect to all of you.
