Obituary For Joseph Anthony Felardo

Joseph Anthony Felardo Jr. of Fremont, California passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at the age of 97. Joseph died peacefully with his daughter, Joan, by his side.

Joseph was born in New York on January 29, 1923 to father Joseph Felardo and mother Mariana Cancilla Felardo. He was the fourth of five children. He was married to Ruth Velma Hurlbut on July 5, 1952. The couple moved from New York to California in 1955.

Joseph worked for the California Department of Transportation as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for 35 years. He was admired by all of his co-workers. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where he regularly served as an usher. He was a member of the widow/widowers club and was quickly nominated as President. In his retirement, he enjoyed visiting the Fremont Senior Center and was an avid bowler. He bowled at Cloverleaf Bowl until he was 92 years old.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers James Felardo, Salvatore Felardo , Anthony Felardo , his sister Josephine Jozefowicz, and his wife Ruth Velma Felardo. He is survived by his children Thomas Allen Felardo and Joan Marie Filibert; grandchildren Regis Joseph Filibert, Ryan Anthony Filibert, and Marissa Anne Felardo; great-grandchildren Abel Ryan Filibert, Eli Samuel Filibert, Benjamin Regis Filibert, and Lewis Curt Filibert; step grandchildren Mia Marie Moya, and Athena Marie Rebello and step great-granddaughter Aiyana Ariella Arroyo. A private funeral will be held on Monday September 28, 2020.

    I Remember in my 20s Joseph opened up his home to me and allowed me to stay when I didn't have a place to go I was always making Joan and I laugh May he Rest In Peace:heart:

    When I think of Joe, I think of the family vacations where the Felardo’s would bring me along. Riding in the back of his truck on those days and singing our hearts out. I remember his great voice imitations! RIP Mr. Felardo.

    I remember your dad saying he was going to have meat head stew. As the bird squawked away. And I remember liking the smell of his pipe. And! Haha. How we’d be working fast on Friday night cleaning the house before going out for Chinese food and milkshakes. He was like one of the kids, working fast before mom got home. He was always so good to me. And boy do I see you in your dad, Joan. Xo to the family. Diana
