Obituary For Joseph "Mickey" Michael Lynch

Joseph Michael “Mickey” Lynch, age 65, of Fremont, California died on December 5th 2017 in a tragic accident. A steady and kind friend, Mickey will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mickey Lynch was born to Eleanor Elizabeth Roselauf and John Anthony Lynch on September 10, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri. He proved a capable student at the University of Missouri earning a Bachelor’s degree. Mickey then attended St. Louis University where he graduated in 1980 with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Possessing an obvious proficiency for accounting and numbers, Mickey migrated from St. Louis to the Bay Area in 1982.

Mickey married Sharon J. Parker at Mission San Jose in Fremont in 1989. He worked at a number of tech firms in the start-up heyday of Silicon Valley including ITT and Atari.

For the last 16 1/2 years Mickey worked as a key employee at XP Power Corporation in Sunnyvale, California. He was recently Vice President and Treasurer at the Company.

With a quiet gentle kindness and ever-present sense of humor, Mickey was greatly loved within the Fremont community. He genuinely enjoyed the better things of life; hiking, food, music, wine and sports. There was always hope for the Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, the 49er’s and the Warriors. Good red wine from Alexander Valley was always welcome as was his favorite sushi. Mickey had a soft spot for pets and animal friends. He loved California with its mild dry weather. When asked where he wished to retire, Mickey wouldn’t answer, saying he already lived in the place he enjoyed most.

“Don’t push it,” he often counseled others in the modern busy world.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon and his son Jonathan, age 23. He is preceded in death by his brothers: James Francis, John Anthony and Thomas John. His only living sibling is Margaret Ann “Peggy” Turek of Tarpon Springs, Florida. A mass-service will be held at the Old Mission San Jose in Fremont on Friday, December 15th at 9 AM. In lieu flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Tri-City Animal Shelter (make checks payable to City of Fremont, indicating For: Animal Shelter)

Mickey has been on dear neighbor for over 28 years every since our daughter was born. We will miss him dearly. Our hearts go out to Sharon and Jonathan who we watched grow up to be a very thoughtful young man. We will always remember Mickey and Jonathan shooting basket balls together, washing their cars together or going for walks around the neighborhood together. Sharon and Jonathan you have our deepest sympathy and our thoughts are with you during this difficult time and we wish that your memories of Mickey will bring you comfort.

Mickey I will miss you greatly. You were a wonderful manager and mentor. I always enjoyed our talks when you stopped by my office or visa versa. It always made me chuckle when you would tell me how you would get Sharon to bake something for the office. You'd say that you would just have to mention some event-auditors coming, how the girls were talking about how good ___ was. And how proud you were of Jonathan- from being a student to Ebay to having a full-time job and getting a promotion. I will miss your dry sense of humor and mischievous side that you hid so well. Thank you for everything. My thoughts and prayers go out to Sharon and Jonathan.

I am very saddened to hear about this recent loss. Mickey, I can still remember asking you for your wife's red velvet cupcake recipe. And she was kind enough to give a handwritten recipe. You were a great man, always make me feel welcomed. Thank you for everything. My heart goes out to your family at this difficult time. Please take care.

I just heard the sad news from a former XP colleague Mickey was incredibly helpful to me and generous with his time when I moved with my family from England to California and was able to offer me some great advice on navigating the strange (to me!) American tax and healthcare system. He was also quick with some very dry humour, and it was always great to stop by his office when I was in Sunnyvale for a quick catch up. He had some lovely quirky phrases that he would use my favourite being when I had had a good sales month "Hey, Thanks for the Revenue!". Good memories include attending a tailgating party at a football game with him, where he mixed spectacular bloody mary's (the first time I ever had one) and sharing some great, evenings on a company trip to Asia. A truly , lovely chap, one of the good guys for sure.

Mickey we will miss you a lot. God took you to early. I’ll always remember you telling me “I brought some Rombauer” go get a glass before it’s gone. At our dinner you asking did you bring potatoe salad? We will always remember your sense of humor and how generous you were with the wine. Our prayers are with you and your family till we meet again. Our love to you, Sharon and Jonathan.

Mickey, Your kind and gentle mannerisms and your great sense of humor will forever be remembered. I remember all our talks and the words of wisdom you passed on to me. I always knew it was time to take a break when I saw you thumbing through those papers outside my office. And I can never thank You and Sharon for the trays upon trays of baked goodies over the years. Your door was always open at work and at home and you and your family were always gracious and made anyone at home in yours. Your laughs, smiles, sense of humor and warm and caring nature will be missed. I know you are up there with the Angels and can now see every game you want in the front row or right on the field if you like! Prayers be with you and your family, our loss is Heaven’s gain...

As an auditor, Mickey is one of my best clients I have ever dealt with. I will never forget his kindness and smile. Mickey always brought cakes, muffins etc to my team and me (made by his wife, Sharon) whenever we were are the XPP office for the audit field work. This really made my team and I felt so warm and welcomed. Mickey, I am sure you are in a better place and you are always in our minds. Manzie Chan from Singapore.

Such shocking and sad news. I'm so grateful I got to see Mickey at the Atari Reunion in October. It had been years since I'd actually seen him, but he was very good about staying in touch with me via email over the years since Atari closed its doors. He was about the nicest person you'd ever want to meet, with a wonderful sense of humor. I believe it's been an honor to have known him. I wasn't his secretary, but as secretary to the President, I did support Mickey in his role of VP Finance, and he was a pleasure to work for. I appreciated his willingness to participate in our Halloween group costume efforts - in particular, Gomez of the Addams Family! We often car-pooled together, as we lived near each other in Fremont, and we always had the nicest conversations - he always had a positive outlook. I especially loved his "Jonathan Stories" - I've never seen a man take to fatherhood quite like Mickey did ... he LOVED being a Dad and he had a cute story about his son as he was growing up just about every day ... as if he couldn't believe his and Sharon's good fortune to become parents. He always had a kind and positive word and was willing to listen to my stories as well. I thought we had a pretty darn good working relationship. And, as I said, we continued on exchanging email messages over the years. I counted him as a friend. I am so very sorry, Sharon and Jonathan, for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm so very disappointed I can't make it from AZ to the memorial service on Friday. Know that I'll be with you in spirit. God bless you. Love, Deborah

Mickey, I just cannot wrap my mind around this. Losing you is a twist in my heart. Your friendship, kindness and humor was and will forever be cherished. I wish I could replay each of our conversations during our years together. So many serious conversations followed by side splitting laughs. You were the consummate host whether at those extraordinary parties in your home, hanging out in your backyard or just lounging on the couch. Mickey, thank you for not only your friendship, but for being a gentle, caring, loving husband and father for my sweet Sharon and Jonathan. We will all take care of them for you. All I can ask now is that God hold you in his arms while you rest in peace. Love, Cindy

Mickey is my best friend. I don't say that lightly, we have been buddies since we were 3. From preschool age all the way to college we did most everything together. It's fair to say that we always got along very well. We have similar interests, and those continued into our adult lives and we have visited each other in many different cities. He has been an outstanding best friend, and I will miss him a lot. I was so happy when he found Sharon, who he adored, and they became the best couple, who are loved by many. Mick, we always had fun. I'll cherish your companionship, competitiveness, clever wit, and all of the great times we had together. You are the best! I love you, Man.

Sharon, I remember best all the good times John and I had with you and Mickey in the back yard of your new house. We would sit back there and party and I think the hot tub was available as well. Heidi was around and the big tom cat, Oscar was always lurking nearby. I can still clearly remember Mickey's laugh and see his head nod in agreement as John made some comment while they probably talked sports. Those two would always party late into the night while I would fall asleep on the couch. Fun times.

While the Fifth Third team only had the opportunity to work with Mickey a brief time, we enjoyed his quick wit and happy disposition. Additionally, he was clearly intelligent and a valued XP colleague. We send heartfelt sympathy to Sharon and Jonathan, and we recall how fondly he spoke of his family when we met Mickey. We hope you find comfort and peace during this difficult time. Our sincere condolences, Fifth Third Bank (Joanna Ridgway, Annie Daniel, Ellen Strenk, Julie Cook, Rob Mancini, Beth Halfin and Dan Balawender).
