Joseph T Colvard born January 25, 1929 in Lavaca Arkansas passed away February 17, 2017 in Fremont Ca. at age 88. Like many families struggling after the great depression his large family traveled in a pickup truck ( just like in the movie," The grapes of wrath") from Arkansas to California. They lived in tent cities and followed crops to survive. At the age of 17 he left high school to join the US Army. He was a carpenter by trade. He played baseball, bowled and golfed. It can not be left unsaid that he loved to gamble. He wrote several short stories and poems. He loved to sing , also loved to dance with his wife Eileen whom he loved dearly. He was a jokester and had a contagious laugh. Most of all a smile that lightened your heart, right up until the end. He was preceded in death by his parents. Lewis Boss Colvard and Della Mae Colvard. His Brothers Ronald Eugene Colvard, Marcell Lewis Colvard and Robert Eugene Colvard. HIs sisters Wanda Maxine Bryant, Patricia June Mills, and Joan Ray. Two sons Michael Duane Nabors and Thomas Joseph Nabors. He is survived by his wife Eileen L Colvard. His sister Darlene Ward. Daughters Cynthia J Horner and Desiree K Marden. His sons Ronald P Colvard and Rodney A Colvard. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren , nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration of life at the Colvard family home on Saturday, April 1st at 11am in Newark, California.
