Josephine Shaffer passed away on March 1, in Fremont, CA at the age of 82. She was a loving mother to Judy Allen and her husband Raymond, Paulette Wales and her husband Jay and Vanessa Shaffer. Beloved sister to Dollie Conley and Bill Hubbard and his wife Jennie. Treasured grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She?s preceded in death by her husband, James Shaffer who passed January 9, 2010, her son, James Mikel Shaffer who passed in 2009 and her great granddaughter, Denay Deane who passed in 1993.

Born on June 1, 1930 in Johnson City, TN, Josephine was a talented woman. She often spent her time writing poetry, or creating her own song lyrics. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She would quiet all her grandchildren and sing them her favorite hymn, or if they were lucky, an original song of her own. Josephine was always so proud of whom her grandchildren had become. Family was the most important thing to her. She loved visiting her brother, and sister in Tennessee. Most of all she loved hunting and fishing trips with her husband.

Services will be held for Josephine on Monday, March 11, 9:30am at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Burial to follow at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
