Joy's soul left her worldly body on June 20, 2015 with her beloved husband Mitchell by her side. She goes to a better place.

Joy was born and raised in San Francisco by her loving parents Anna (Toots) and Ernest Vogel and moved o Fremont 54 years ago.

She was a warm, thoughtful and loving person, who each day of her life tried to find a way to brighten the day and bring happiness to everyone, family, friend or total stranger.

For a decade, she designed and made hundreds of one-of-a-kind teddy bears, each with it's own persona. They were shown in area museums and libraries. She was also known for her "over the top" decorating for each and every holiday.

Joy enjoyed the treasure hunt of estate, garage and library sales.

Most of all she loved her family. She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her husband of 60 years, Mitch. She is also survived by her loving children, Michele McDowell and her sweetheart Bennett Oppenheim, David Burke and wife Tamara, and Shari Whitaker; granddaughter, Tiffany Dodds and husband Mike; adored grandson, Austin McDowell; and precious great granddaughters, Cassidy and Jessica Dodds. Lastly Andy, Katy and Pepper, who she considered to be her spirit-lifting dogs.

At Joy's request, family and friends are invited to say goodbye at a Cryptside Service at Irvington Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum, 41001 Chapel Way, Fremont, CA 94538, on Sunday, June 28th at 1:30pm.
