Obituary For Laura DeForest

The heart of our family, Laura DeForest, passed away surrounded by her two daughters, Julie and Jennifer, and devoted husband, David, on Monday, August 8, 2022 at the age of 70 after a long battle with breast cancer. Laura was born on March 27th, 1952, in Oakland, California and was the eldest of four children. Laura filled all our lives with love and comfort. She met her beloved husband of 49 years at Mission San Jose High School. He offered to drive her home from the homecoming game and never left her side. From family trips to the cabin at Tahoe and hairbrush dance parties in the living room, Laura ensured that her daughters’ childhood memories were full of fun and adventure. As her daughters grew into adults, Laura never missed a phone call. Her grandson, Landon, was the light of Laura’s life. She enjoyed watching him grow from a sweet young boy who loved Legos and tricycles to a handsome football and track star. Her grandpups also had a special place in her heart. Laura is not only survived by her family, but by every life she touched. She leaves behind countless friends and acquaintances who remember her kind and generous spirit fondly. Laura never forgot a birthday or an opportunity to make someone she cared about feel special. She enjoyed baking on rainy days, long walks on the beach with her husband, shopping trips with her youngest daughter, attending her grandson’s football games, and celebrating holidays at home with her loved ones. Laura’s life will be celebrated during a private service with close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to CalPaws K9 Rescue

I love and miss you so much grandma. I am blessed to have had such a wonderful grandma like you for 16 years. Ride with the wind, until we meet again... I love you grandma, forever and beyond ❤️

I was so saddened to hear of Laura's passing. We worked together at Parkmont, and became very close during my time there. Laura was the most loving and caring friend, always taking care of me like my mom away from home. I have missed our long talks and all of our laughing ... definitely all of our laughing! My sincere condolences to David, Julie, Jenn and Landon. I know her family was her greatest joy in life! ❤️
