Obituary For Lois Ann Solomon

Lois Ann Solomon 87, a long-time resident of Newark passed away Saturday, May 12th at the Windsor Care Center in Fremont, CA.

Born 1924 in Minnesota to Norwegian parents, Ole and Josephine Eide, Lois was raised in North Dakota, where her dad owned a small grocery store. Lois graduated from State Teachers College at Mayville in 1945, and later taught elementary school for several years.

A lifelong athlete and sport enthusiast, Lois played basketball and tennis in college, and later enjoyed bowling, golfing and water skiing. Lois was an avid follower of most televised sports; and she was a loyal fan of the SF 49ers and Giants. She dearly loved spending time her family, playing cards and traveling. She had a wonderful smile and was known for her keen wit, sharp mind and daily cross-word puzzles.

Lois is survived by her daughter Kathy Rowlee and her husband Mike of Fremont, son Doug Solomon and his wife Sue of Newark, grandson Douglas Fradelis, granddaughters Denise Struckmeier, Brenda Solomon, Lisa Solomon, Sara Cortez, step granddaughters Deborah Sage, Danielle Campos and Laura Cruz-Oxford and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Corine Wilson, brother Owen Eide and preceded in death by her former husband of 24 years, Ralph Solomon and her sister Dorothy Billings and brother Richard Eide.

A memorial gathering will be held at the home of her son Doug on June 9th. Her family plans to scatter her ashes into the sea at Pescadero Beach at a later date.
