Obituary For Lorna Salvatin Arachea

Lorna Salvatin Arachea passed away at 9:50 pm on Wednesday, January 12th, 2022, after courageously surviving an ischemic stroke. Lorna is survived by her husband, Emmanuel, her son, Francis, her daughter, Allison Arachea McEachin, and her son-in-law, Jeffrey McEachin. From working for nearly four decades as a registered nurse at Stanford Medical Center, to her volunteer work and Eucharistic ministry at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Lorna has touched many people with her selflessness and generosity. She was an avid reader, poet, baker and gardener. Just as her beautiful garden, which she wholeheartedly nurtured, continues to grow and flourish, so does her love and memory continue to live on in our hearts.

While there are no attendance restrictions for the services, the family kindly asks all those attending to wear face masks and social distance. Lorna was a nurse who cared for the health of everyone around her. Let us honor her by doing the same.

The Arachea Family wishes to express their deep gratitude for your support, prayers and acts of kindness during this difficult time.

We want to extend our deepest sympathy to Kuya Manolo, Albert, Allison, and Jeffrey. I will always cherish my childhood memories with her and my cousins in Salisay when we had our annual vacation to visit Amang and Inang in Dagupan. She was very caring, specially to her family, extended family and to my mom and Dad. We will miss her during our get together, Thanksgiving and Christmas, especially her Christmas cookies she gave during the holidays. Ate Lorna, Rest in peace dear cousin. Love and prayers, Noli, Marissa & family.

I was deeply saddened when I learned that Lorna passed away. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Manolo, Albert and Allison. We were classmates in college and had a lot of good times, shared the same goals and aspirations. We found each other again at the same Texas hospital where we worked tirelessly and earned a few good friends. She was a hardworking person and well liked by her coworkers. One memory of her that stands out was when we were in a bus ride from Dallas to California. We took the trip thinking we were going to see a lot of beautiful landscapes..only to be greeted by barren lands and creepy bus stops. At least, we were able to visit our relatives and friends plus we got to see the Grand Canyons. The greatest takeaway was our bond that only strengthened over time.In the late '70's we both ended up moving to California and also worked at the same hospital. We started our own families and our kids went to the same school. In my lifetime, I know I had her as the one person I could run to at any given time. I will keep her in my best memories.Lorna, may your soul Rest In Peace, knowing you have lived your life well.

It all started with the sad news that atchi Lorna had a major stroke, then followed by the good news that she was already recovering in a Rehab facility. Therefore, when Albert called very early that sad morning, I knew that it was some grievous news. And it was. Her passing truly weighs heavily on my heart but I take comfort that she is now exempted from physical suffering and that she is in a better place in the presence of our Savior. I have gotten close to atchi Lorna as kuya Manolo's 1st cousin. She was also one of our wedding sponsors. I first had a wonderful taste of the goodness of her heart when I moved here from New York where I stayed for a couple of weeks at their home before my wedding. She treated me like a sister and welcomed me with utmost hospitality. We had some things in common being both nurses and graduates from the UP College of Nursing such that we would talk lengthily and laugh even over little things. Atchi Lorna, I will truly miss you and the kind soul that you were.

Our condolences to Kuya Manolo, Albert and Allison. Atchi Lorna was kind, a woman of faith, loving wife and mother. She raised two wonderful and caring children. She's hard working and lived a simple life, but full of love and accomplishments. Thank you Atchi for always there for us. You'll be dearly missed. With our love and prayers, Leny & family

It is so sad to learn that our classmate Lut Salvatin Aracea had passed away. She was one who had a calm & meek demeanor. She always had a smile on her face whenever you met her along the way. Not a single day passed by during our nursing school days that I had seen her in a bad mood. The fondest memory I have of her was when she & her family invited a few of us to their home in Pangasinan. This happened after our final exams. Of course I had to ask permission from my parents. We rode the train going to Pangasinan & we sure had a blast. We met her whole family. They were very gracious & they were determined to offer us the fun of our life. They took us to go fishing (bangus & shrimps) in their fish pond. One stipulation that her mom said was "whoever will not be able to catch fish or shrimp will not be able to eat lunch". Of course she said that with a wink. So we all did our best to make our catch. We really enjoyed our fresh seafood feast. Then her family took us to Baguio. We were invited to a military club; they have a family friend who was an army general. Her younger sister who was a singer beautifully belted out some songs for us. We had a happy & beautiful evening. Back to Pangasinan we celebrated their town fiesta. We participated in the preparation for several dishes. Of course we were just the wanna be "sous chef". We sure had a grand time. Lut made sure of that; she was a great host. For the short 3 years of our nursing school days, we all had interacted with each other and we made memories. Lut had gone to the Heavenly Home to join our loving & merciful God. Let us all pray for her eternal peace.

My heartfelt condolences to Manolo, Albert and Allison and all of Lorna's family. Being a classmate from UP-PGHSN, we shared many unforgettable memories of growing up at the Nurses Home, mostly happy. Those memories we tirelessly recalled with each class reunion, big or small. I remember the time three of us neighboring classmates went to her house and gathered fruits from her apple tree. We had such good time. We were like kids giggling non-stop. Sleep with the angels, Lorna.

My heart goes out to Lorna's family during this time. I am so fortunate to have known Lorna during my time at Stanford. I worked with Lorna since I began working at Stanford in 1996- until she retired. She was always a pillar of compassion and steadfast, expert care for her patients and a constant support for our clinical team. I was confident she would have the knowledge and calm to guide us through whatever came our way---- and never without a kind smile. We will miss you, kind soul. Sincerely, Laura Johnston
