Obituaries

Lorraine was born in Oakland to Manuel and Olympia Moreira. She married Homer Ellsworth Rose at All Saints Church in Hayward in 1951. They had a son, Norman in 1953. Lorraine was pre-deceased by her son who succumbed to the injuries from an auto accident.

Lorraine grew up in Hayward, graduating from Hayward High School in 1949. She worked for the General Motors assembly plant in Oakland and transferred to Fremont where she was employed as a secretary until her retirement.

She resided in Newark for many years and was a long standing and active member of the Sociedade do Divino Espirito Santo de (SDES) Alvarado. Her Father once served as President of this fraternal society and Lorraine served as secretary. She was also a member of the Portuguese Fraternal Society of America (PFSA) in Newark Council #16.

She loved to play bingo and enjoyed many hours with friends and family attending crab feeds, and dances. One of Lorraine’s past times was oil painting and she produced several beautiful pieces of art.

Her family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to the staff at Brookdale North, Fremont for their thoughtful care.

A Visitation will be held from 11AM-1:00PM, Friday, December 14, 2018 at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont.
